McCarthy Companies Co-Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Village Senior Apartments in Buellton, CA
In January, Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (CEDC) celebrated the grand opening of Village Senior Apartments in Buellton, California, with a ribbon-cutting co-hosted by McCarthy Companies. The newly completed community offers 50 units of affordable housing for seniors, including options for senior high health users, senior veterans, formerly unhoused senior veterans, with 13 units specifically designated for veterans. Watch coverage of this event by KSBY here.
Jacaranda Court Breaks Ground
On December 15th, Jacaranda Court broke ground in Santa Barbara. This development will support Santa Barbara’s workforce, specifically “missing middle” households that earn too much to qualify for low-income affordable housing but not enough to afford market-rate rents. The community is being developed by the Housing Authority of Santa Barbara with McCarthy Companies providing General Contracting.
Jacaranda Court will provide 63 new affordable units for families in a three- and four-story building. The units will be constructed to serve moderate-income households, defined as earning between 80% and 120% of the AMI. There will be 7 units restricted to low-income households (80% of the AMI and below) with Project-Based Section 8 Vouchers already approved. The remaining units will be for moderate-income households and one final unit will be a designated manager unit. The building will consist of 21 studios, 37 one-bedroom units and 5 two-bedroom units.
New Affordable Housing for Seniors on the Horizon
McCarthy Companies has also been selected to provide pre-construction and general contracting services for Camino de Salud, a 49-unit affordable senior development. The development will be located in unincorporated Ojai. The community is being developed by Cabrillo Economic Development Corporation (CEDC).
Camino De Salud will consist of one three-story building with 49 efficiency units of affordable housing serving seniors whose income falls within 30 and 60 percent of the area median income (AMI), along with a non-revenue manager unit. Supportive Services will include Case (Care) Management and Services Coordination, Medi-Cal Enrollment Assistance, Peer Support Activities, Behavioral Health Care, Benefits Counseling and Advocacy, Basic Housing Retention Skills Training, Co-Occurring Disabilities and Disorders, Recreational and Social Activities, and Educational Services.
