Year In Review

2022 was an incredible year of growth and achievement for McCarthy Companies. To celebrate all that we’ve accomplished, we put together a commemorative overview of every project we worked so hard on this past year. So grab a festive drink, put on some holiday tunes, and celebrate McCarthy Companies with us!

Done and Dusted

In 2022 we completed construction on three significant projects: Nipomo 40, Mountain View Apartments, and the Harmon Ranch Collection. Nipomo 40 is an independent senior living home that offers affordable housing and improved quality of life to its residents. McCarthy completed the 40-unit senior project under a Public-Private-Partnership (PPP) with the Housing Authority of the City of San Luis Obispo. After securing the land, McCarthy acted as a co-developer, completing the entitlements and then building the community.  For Mountain View Apartments, we partnered with Many Mansions and the Area Housing Authority for the County of Ventura to provide preconstruction and construction services for 77 affordable apartments and associated amenities. The beautiful Craftsman-style architecture was inspired by Fillmore’s unique history and designed by RRM Design Group. Lastly, for Harmon Ranch in Ventura, McCarthy acted as the developer and builder for an intimate infill project which consisted of 19 gorgeous single-family homes. With modern finishes and the charm of the agricultural Central Coast, these stunning homes were a huge success and have officially sold out! 

Under Construction

2022 marked the beginning of several large-scale projects for McCarthy. After so much time and energy spent planning, breaking ground on these projects was definitely cause for celebration. 

We broke ground on Alpine Landing, a 95 Build-For-Rent (BFR) unit project of attached and detached three-story townhomes and two-story duplex units in Boise, ID. McCarthy is a Development Manager for this community. 

As the Development Manager for Rancho Mercado, we broke ground on a 227 BFR unit project in Surprise, Arizona. The development will consist of one-bedroom and two-bedroom homes, garage structures, a portico entry, an on-site leasing center, a fitness center, a pool and jacuzzi, a ramada, outdoor barbecues, an active open space, and a site parking lot. Additionally, we are now fully under construction with our Citrus 3 project, which includes 43 brand new market-rate apartments in Ventura.

McCarthy also has three projects underway at Cal State University Channel Islands. The first of which is the horizontal infrastructure for over 600 units at CSUCI’s University Glen Community, a 35+ acre development. We’ve also begun CSUCI Senior Apartments, our largest Senior project yet that will provide 170 affordable units. And last but not least, we’ve been working on CSUCI Market-Rate Apartments, which includes 310 apartments.

Continuing the Legacy

2022 was our busiest year yet, with  845 units under construction and 784 additional units in preconstruction. None of this would’ve been possible without the dedication and hard work of our late founder, Pat McCarthy. Pat started McCarthy Companies in 1980 and always led by example, teaching us the value of hard work and compassion. As we approach the first anniversary of his passing, we’re incredibly grateful for the foundation he laid for us. Pat is dearly missed by all who knew him, and we are proud and honored to continue his legacy.

In honor of Pat’s commitment to his community, this year, McCarthy Companies will donate to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. Our donation will help fund the Gene Haas STEAM Innovation Center, which exposes elementary to middle school-aged children to numerous career fields. By participating in the STEAM center’s programs, children will be exposed to everything from titration and chemistry, to digital design and videography, to nursing and building trades.
