At McCarthy Companies, we’ve been making waves lately with our expansion into new territories. However, there’s always something special about delivering a project right in our own backyard. Today, we’re excited to share the successful completion of The Olive Apartment Homes, a 43-unit market rate residential community in Ventura. This development embraces 121 apartments in total, and the completion of these first 43 units marks the conclusion of Phase 1. This endeavor was made possible through a noteworthy partnership with Dansk Investment Group, a Ventura County-based firm renowned for its diverse real estate portfolio.
What distinguishes The Olive from recent projects is not only its bold modern architecture and contemporary color scheme but also the thoughtful integration of live/work loft units and retail spaces. The 1-2 bedroom units range from 749 – 1,480 square feet, complete with spacious private balconies, and many enjoy scenic views of the picturesque HWY 126 agricultural corridor.
One of the project’s attractive features is its functional open space, meticulously connected by drought tolerant landscaping, creating a serene internal courtyard that includes a spacious outdoor kitchen area, designed by the local landscape architectural firm, Brodersen Associates. The community composition is beautiful, blending massing elements, roof planes, window sizes, recessed panels, and contemporary materials to create a village-like atmosphere with a dynamic and modern aesthetic.
Inside, the apartments are generously appointed with white shaker cabinets, black matte hardware, grey quartz countertops, walk-in closets, and fully tiled showers. The spacious interiors speak to modern living, offering residents the utmost in comfort and style.
McCarthy Companies played a vital role in the project’s success by providing both Preconstruction and Construction Services to Dansk. This included facilitating and overseeing an extensive structural redesign that not only reduced costs but also allowed for investment in the modern, high-end finishes that make this project truly stand out. The vertical construction process spanned 15 months, requiring careful sequencing and staging due to the 1.5-acre infill site.
While we continue working on Phase 2 Preconstruction Services for the next 78 units, we would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude for the opportunity to build this project for Dansk. We are also appreciative of the dedicated consultants and exceptional design team for their unwavering collaboration. Together, we’ve transformed The Olive project into a thriving community that garnered strong leasing interest as soon as it hit the market.
